AYURVEDIC NUTRITON – BASIC POINTS

Maintaining good digestion is Ayurveda’s key to health and prevention of illness; after all, one can obtain from food only the elements that one can digest out of it.
Ayurveda prescribes some common sense guidelines for how to promote optimum digestion.

1. Eat in a settled atmosphere:

Never eat when you are upset
Always sit to eat
Do not talk while chewing
Do not work, read, drive, or watch TV while you eat
Stop eating while you still have some room left

2. Eat at roughly the same times every day
Try to have your main meal at midday, followed by a brief rest; digestion is strongest at midday
Allow three to six hours between meals
Eat only if you are hungry

3. Avoid iced beverages and freezing cold items with meals – these interfere with digestion by cooling the digestive ‘fire.’ Sip water, juice or herb tea with meals

4. Avoid evening consumption of cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese and cultured buttermilk

Milk is fine alone, or with sweet-tasting foods such as cereals, sweets, toast and muffins but should be drunk separately from other foods (at least twenty minutes apart).
Note: milk can by made more digestible by boiling it after purchase, even if it is pasteurised.

Use Honey only in its raw form, and do not cook or bake with it. Uncooked honey is considered a rejuvenator, but when cooked or heated beyond lukewarm it is considered to act as a very undesirable toxin.

The best meals are made from fresh ingredients, cooked well, and served warm:
Minimize raw foods
Use delicious recipes
Make the meal beautiful

A happy cook in a pleasant environment prepares the most healthful food!

Try to experience all six ayurvedic tastes at every meal: sweet, sour, salt, bitter, astringent, and pungent. Different people should favor some tastes over others, depending on the time of year and the condition of their body, and their body types.

The six tastes of Ayurveda:

Sweet: oils, sugar, milk, butter, ice cream, wheat, oats, rice

Sour: cheese, yogurt, lemon juice, citrus and sour fruits, vinegar, alcohol, fermented foods

Salty: Salt

Bitter: leafy greens, lettuce, tonic water, tumeric, fenugreek, eggplant

Astringent: legumes (beans and lentils), pears, apples, potatoes, persimmons, cranberries, pomegranates

Pungent: Cayenne, peppers, ginger, cumin, spicy foods

TASTES TO PACIFY DOSHAS:

VATA: Sweet, sour and salty
PITTA: Bitter, astringent and sweet
KAPHA: Bitter, astringent and Pungent

If you are unsure of your ayurvedic body type, or if you are cooking for a group, the following guidelines are helpful (Be sure to make available a variety of foods with separate tastes):

In cold, dry weather, favour sweet, sour and salty tasting foods
In cool, wet weather, favor bitter, pungent and astringent foods
In hot weather, favor sweet, astringent and bitter tasting foods.

ORGANIC INGREDIENTS:

ORGANIC INGREDIENTS:
SPIRULINA - Rich in Antioxidants, Boosts Energy & Cellular Health, Antiaging

HEMP PROTEIN & Seeds - Hemp protein powder possesses high amounts of good quality fats, and it is also one of the few food sources which contains GLA – we need these nutrients in order to maintain a healthy cellular growth.

CHLORELLA: Chlorella is comprised of a fibrous, indigestible outer shell (20%) and its inner nutrients (80%). It is the fibrous material which has been proven to actually bind with the heavy metals and pesticides - such as PCBs - which can accumulate in our bodies.

A clean bloodstream, with an abundance of red blood cells to carry oxygen, is necessary to a strong natural defense system. Chlorella's cleansing action on the bowel and other elimination channels, as well as its protection of the liver, helps keep the blood clean. Clean blood insures that metabolic wastes are efficiently carried away from the tissues.

Chlorella gets its name from the high amount of chlorophyl it possesses. Chlorella contains more chlorophyl per gram than any other plant. Chlorophyl is one of the greatest food substances for cleansing the bowel and other elimination systems, such as the liver and the blood.

FLAXMEAL: t may be tiny, but it’s mighty: The flax seed carries one of the biggest nutrient payloads on the planet. And while it’s not technically a grain, it has a similar vitamin and mineral profile to grains, while the amount of fiber, antioxidants, and Omega-3 fatty acids in flax leaves grains in the dust.

MACA: From Peru: Scientists and doctors are now finding maca to be one of the best natural ways to regulate and support endocrine health. This action regulates metabolism, energy levels, growth, sexual development and the sense of well being and attitude.

Thankfully, maca does not contain hormones itself. Instead it provides a unique set of nutrients that directly fuel the endocrine system and help the glands to produce vital hormones in precise dosages predetermined by one's own body.

MAGNESIUM: The crucial health benefits of magnesium include solving or preventing osteoporosis, heart attacks, hypertenstion, constipation, migraines, leg cramps, kidney stones, gallstones and more

ACAI: From Brazil, Acai Berry is from a Palm. Acai is a rich source of anthocyanins (water soluble red/blue color fruit) and other phenolics and phyto-nutrients. Acai berries are amongst the most nutritious foods of the Amazon, rich in B vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Acai also contains oleic acid (omega-9), a beneficial fatty acid (often mistakenly referred to as essential).

Minerals found in Acai Berry: Potassium is the mineral most abundant in the Acai. Acai is also rich in copper, and unusually high in manganese.

AMLA: Amla is commonly known as amalaki, Indian gooseberry and medically known as emblica officinalis. Amla is a natural antioxidant and is a popular home remedy. Amla prevents early aging of human body. Amla is good for hair. Amla is good for respiratory function. Amla treats and prevents skin disorders. Natural medicine suggests Amla in the treatment of eye disorders. Fruit of Amla is beneficial in treatment of human scurvy. Amla is a pure herb and is called the king of herbs.

TULSI BASIL: Holy Basil (scientific name is Ocimum Sanctum) or Tulsi is undoubtedly the best medicinal herb ever known. It has endless miraculous and medicinal values and is being worshipped in India since thousands of years. Even going closer to a Tulsi plant alone can protect you from many infections. Health Benefits are: kidney stones, eye care, skin care, headaches, anti-aging, immunity, radiation poisoning, dental care, oral care, stress, heart disease, lung disorders, asthma, respiratory disease, fever

CINNAMON: Ayurveda, cinnamon is used as a remedy for diabetes, indigestion, and colds. Cinnamon is used for colds, flatulence, nausea, diarrhea, and painful menstrual periods. It's also believed to improve energy, vitality, and circulation

GINGER: Historically, ginger has a long tradition of being very effective in alleviating symptoms of gastrointestinal distress. In herbal medicine, ginger is regarded as an excellent carminative (a substance which promotes the elimination of intestinal gas) and intestinal spasmolytic (a substance which relaxes and soothes the intestinal tract). Modern scientific research has revealed that ginger possesses numerous therapeutic properties including antioxidant effects, an ability to inhibit the formation of inflammatory compounds, and direct anti-inflammatory effects.

HIBISCUS: Painful urination, cystitis, cough, fever, toxins in the blood. Cooling herb

VANILLA: The extract contains small amounts of B-complex group of vitamins such as niacin, pantothenic acid, thiamin, riboflavin and vitamin B-6. These B-complex groups of vitamins help in enzyme synthesis, nervous system function and regulating body metabolism.

This spice also contains small traces of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, manganese, iron and zinc. Potassium in an important component of cell and body fluids that helps control heart rate and blood pressure. Manganese and copper are used by the body as co-factors for the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase. Iron is essential for red blood cell production and as a co-factor for cytochrome oxidases enzymes.

ASHWAGANDHA: Is an antioxidant, reduces inflammation, reduces stress, aphrodisic, strengthening to muscles and releases lactic acid

BIBHITAKI: Tonic for the lungs, improves voice, vision and promotes growth of hair. It is both strongly laxative and astringent, cleansing the bowels and increasing their tone. Removes parasites.

HARITAKI: Feeds the brain and the nerves and imparts the energy of pure awareness. Regulates the colon. Improves digestion and absorption.

MSM: Energy levels increase with MSM because it helps make the cell walls more permeable. Our cell walls get thicker and more rigid with age; this tends to create a lessening of the amount of nutrients and oxygen that can enter the cell through the cell wall. Also, toxins which get stored in the cell get trapped within the cells because of the lower permeability of the cell wall. When MSM goes into the body the permeability of the cell walls greatly increases, enhancing the absorbtion of nutrients and oxygen and helping release the toxins which were stuck in cells. When these toxins leave the body, it helps to increase our energy.

NUTMEG: nutmeg is a kapha and vata doshas suppressant herb. The dry and ripened seeds of nutmeg contains a fixed oil and the dry leaves of this herb contains a compound myristicin. It helps reduce convulsions, pain and inflammation because of its hot potency. It also help clears the respiratory passage and normalizes the digestive system. Helps with Insomnia

RED SANDALWOOD: sandalwoodis notorious for having both anti-aging and beneficial effects to make skin glow.

SHATAVARI: Supports female reproductive system and blood. Effective for dry and inflamed membranes of the stomach

SHILAJIT: Indian shilajit is a mineral found in rocks in the Himalayan Mountains. It is actually decomposed plant matter that has been integrated with rock and drips from the rocks during hot weather due to geothermal pressure.

This amazing mineral substance is collected in the form of a thick paste and purified for medicinal use. In traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda), shilajit is known as a hot bitter. It is used to boost energy caused by stress and anxiety, to renew sexual and spiritual vitality and as an overall tonic.

TURMERIC: is an excellent natural antibiotic, while at the same time it strengthens digestion and helps improve intestinal floras. Purifies the blood and warms the blood. Purifies the channels of the subtle body. Helps stretch the ligaments

CARDAMOM: Digestive, respiratory, circulatory, nervous
Cardamom is one of the best and safest digestive stimulants. It awakens the spleen, stimulates digestion. Stimulates the mind and heart and gives clarity and joy. Cardamom is good for the nervous digestive upset of vomiting, belching or acid regurgitation.

HIMALAYAN ROCK SALT: Himalayan crystal salt is far superior to traditional iodized salt which is extremely toxic. Himalayan salt is millions of years old. It is a pure form of salt, untouched by many of the toxins and pollutants that pervade other forms of ocean salt.

Known in the Himalayas as “white gold,” Himalayan Crystal Salt contains the same 84 natural minerals and elements found in the human body. This crystal form of salt has also been maturing over the past 250 million years under intense tectonic pressure, creating an environment of zero exposure to toxins and impurities.

CLOVES: Cloves are an effective stimulant and aromatic for the lungs and stomach. They dispel chill and disinfect the lymphatics. Benefits toothache, colds, asthma, low blood pressure, impotence. Warming

NEEM: Neem is a multipurpose herb, which is recommended in every type of ailment. Following are the wonders of neem, which ayurveda has to offer to this world and modern life style of living.

Supergreen 528hz: Pitta Smoothie Blend - 4oz

SUPPORTS LIVER, DIGESTION, EYES, SKIN – COOLING

Anger, jealously, frustration, lack of patience, inflammations

This is more than a smoothie blend.  It’s an amazing love potion that you can add to just about anything.  528hz has been recently discovered to be the frequency of love.  We’ve infused these ayurvedically balanced superfood blends with this love vibration.  This blend’s ingredients have been optimized for the Pita Dosha. Enjoy!

All products are infused with many herbs which have the value of antioxidants.

What is the meaning of ANTIOXIDANT:

An antioxidant, like resveratrol, is any molecule that is stable with or without all its necessary electrons. A free radical, on the other hand, is a molecule that is unstable when it loses an electron.

The purpose of an antioxidant is to donate one of its electrons to the unstable free radicals. Once it has done that, both molecules are stable.

An unstable free radical causes damage to nearby healthy cells when it “bounces” around looking for an electron to steal. A damaged healthy cell is the cause of aging, illness and disease.

Antioxidants, therefore, are nature’s solution to that problem.
